Change a Life
Did you know that over 1.2 million older Australians live alone?
Loneliness is a pressing issue, especially for older Australians who may experience isolation as they age. Tabulam & Templer Homes for the Aged (TTHA) is actively addressing this concern through the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme, funded by the Australian Government.
Since 2023, we have connected volunteers with over 100 elderly individuals, fostering meaningful relationships and bringing much-needed companionship to their lives. This initiative not only brightens the days of those we serve but also strengthens the sense of community and support around them.

The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS)
The Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme supports older people who are most at risk of feeling lonely or cut off from others. This includes people who may:
-
Have little or no contact with family or friends
-
Find it hard to get out due to health or mobility issues
-
Come from different cultural or language backgrounds
-
Experience financial or social challenges
-
Feel different or left out for any reason

There are many ways you can provide friendship and companionship to older people in our community such as:
Discussing Interest
Engaging in a conversation about history, politics, sports or their interests brings lively discussions and meaningful connections.
Sharing a Cuppa
Simply sitting together and sharing a cup of tea or coffee can offer the comforting companionship an elderly person might need.
Playing a Game
Playing their favorite card or board game brings joy and connection, making each moment together special.
Listening to Music
Listening to the music they love together creates a shared moment of joy, filling the room with melodies and memories.
